Meet Betty -
Owner of El Carreton Cubano
A little about Betty:
Betty is originally from Holguin, Cuba, which is in the easternmost region of the country and is also known as "El Oriente". "El Oriente" of Cuba is known for its rich natural beauty, strong Afro-Cuban cultural roots, significant revolutionary history, and vibrant musical heritage. Everyone who knows Betty knows that she is a true Holguinera!
What inspired El Carreton Cubano:
Betty wanted to create a space that is family oriented yet fun, entertaining, and relaxing. She wants people to know that Cuban food is different and highlights Cuba's unique culture. "El Carreton" translates to "cart" and represents the connection she is making to the rural, "campesino" culture of Cuba.
Fun fact:
When Betty isn't at the restaurant you will find her spending time with her large, tight-knit family, listening to music, cooking meals, enjoying drinks, dancing, laughing, and having a great time... basically you will find her doing all the of the same things she now wants to share with you here at El Carreton Cubano!
